Bieber’s Frank Remarks; Van Persie Gets Rough

Justin Bieber Invokes Ire over Anne Frank Comments

Fast becoming a bigger magnet for controversy than even Mustafa Ali, Justin Bieber is facing a backlash like no other this week.

The teenage heartthrob left the internet dumfounded after his latest antics during his tour of Europe where he stopped off in Amsterdam.

Ostensibly there to hang out in some of the city’s less reputable ‘cafes’, the Canadian atoned for his sins by visiting the Anne Frank House – the hiding place of the young Holocaust victim which has since been turned into a museum.

So far so good, but it was the comment Bieber left in the guest-book which has attracted a lot of unwanted attention for the star.

“Truly inspiring to be able to come here,” he offered, very acceptably. Then came the face-palm moment: “Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”

Describing the young diarist as “a great girl” seems glib at best, but it is the assumption that had she been alive today she would have devoted herself to his music that has provoked the angriest reactions.

His tour has been beset by controversy, including Bieber angrily confronting photographers in London, having his pet monkey seized by officials in Germany, and getting concerts cancelled in Portugal.

Basically the revelation that Justin Bieber is something of a half-wit should come as no revelation at all.

Robin van Persie Assaults Alex Ferguson… Sort Of

After a goal drought lasting ten games, Manchester United signing Robin van was understandably delighted to have scored this weekend with his 66th minute goal – even if it was against struggling Stoke.

But nothing could have prepared manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the celebration that followed as the Dutch striker raced to celebrate with him and the rest of the coaching staff and substitutes.

“He nearly killed me! He forgets I’m 71,” Ferguson said, presumably half-jokingly.

“It was a great celebration as it brought the emotion of the players and fans together. We really did celebrate that.”

The victory put Man U a remarkable fifteen points clear of Manchester City who on Sunday night beat Chelsea to go through to the FA Cup Final.

“I wanted to celebrate with everyone — players and staff — as they have been great to me from day one,” Van Persie said of his enthusiastic response.

“Even when it is a little harder they still support and believe in me. That’s why I wanted everyone to join in.”
