Lohan Heads to Rio, Not Rehab; Di Canio an Unpopular Choice for Sunderland

Lindsay Lohan Flouts Court Order By Flying to Brazil

Despite a pretty clear court order telling Lindsay Lohan to spend 90 days “locked-down” in a rehabilitation centre, the 26-year old actress has clearly decided she has better things to do with her time…

Like flying to Brazil where she spent the weekend being photographed having fun at countless society parties.

She was told by a judge to attend rehab or face jail after a string of offences, including lying to police, speeding, shoplifting and drink driving.

But she has reportedly refused any rehab that will not supply her with favoured prescription drug Adderall.

Considering that she is already on probation over a jewellery theft case in 2011, a lenient sentence is highly unlikely.

Perhaps they serve Adderall in federal prisons?

Paoli Di Canio Appointment Sparks Fury at Sunderland

Barely 24 hours after Martin O’Neill was sacked as manager of Sunderland, former Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio was named as his replacement. But it hasn’t been entirely well received.

The move has sparked a fierce reaction from fans and board members alike, including prominent UK politician and former Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who resigned from his role as vice-chairman because of the new boss’s “past political statements”.

“I wish Sunderland AFC all success in the future. It is a great institution that does a huge amount for the north-east, and I wish the team very well over the next vital seven games. However, in the light of the new manager’s past political statements, I think it right to step down,” Miliband said.

Di Canio has admitted to being “a fascist” and maintains that Benito Mussolini was “a deeply misunderstood individual”.

The Italian was seen arriving at the Stadium of Light on Sunday night, where he signed a 2½-year deal as owner Ellis Short takes a huge gamble on his club’s Premier League status.

If nothing else, Di Canio will be a cheap option for Short and Sunderland, who last week announced losses of RM128 million – however he could yet prove to be a public relations own-goal.
